The presentation and ideas of Watt offer a deep understanding of how the novel emerged and how the attitudes and society were changing to give birth to a new literary form- the novel. In my opinion, the presentation developed by Watt takes into account a myriad of changes occurring in the society. Watt takes into account the changing attitude of the people which was more attuned to realism and changed from a God centric view to a human centric view. Along with this, Watt also discusses how the printing press and changing London society supported the rise of novels. What makes Watt’s work authentic is the fact that Watt backs up his claims by repeatedly consulting with three different authors- Richardson, Fielding and Defoe. He not just refers to their writings but also the evaluation of their writings. He focuses more on Richardson, given that Richardson was among the pioneers of the novels and it was his novel that later inspired other novels developed not just during that time but also quite later on. According to Watt, a literary piece of writing cannot exist without taking into account the cultural and intellectual factors that shape the society when a particular piece is produced. Pro Capital Punishment Essay According to my research there are some people who believe the death penalty is right just because it is safer to end one condemned life than to risk the lives of other innocent people. The death penalty is most commonly legal only for the most extreme cases, such as premeditated murder. Even in the event of murder, out of the 15,000 committed each year, we are only now reaching the 1,000 execution mark after thirty years! This plainly shows that those who may be pro capital punishment still use it sparingly. Also backing up the belief for using capital punishment are numerous stories of murderers who, after being released from prison, simply killed again. One such account reads, â€Å"In 1985, 13-year-old Karen Patterson was shot to death in her bed in North Charleston, S.C. Her killer was a neighbor who had already served 10 years of a life sentence for murdering his half-brother Charles in 1970. The murderer, Joe Atkins, cut the Pattersons phone lines, then entered bearing a machete, a sawed-off shotgun, and a pistol. Karens parents were chased out of their home by Atkins. Karens mom ran to the Atkins home nearby, where Joe then murdered his adopted father, Benjamin Atkins, 75, who had worked to persuade parole authorities to release Joe from the life sentence.† Other accounts show that a life sentence simply is not always enough to stop a person from repeating their crimes. â€Å"In 1965, Robert Massie murdered mother of two Mildred Weiss in San Gabriel, Calif., during a follow-home robbery. Hours before execution, a stay was issued so Massie could testify against his accomplice. Massies sentence was commuted to life when the Supreme Court halted executions in 1972. Receiving an undeserved second chance, Massie was paroled, but eight months later robbed and murdered businessman Boris Naumoff in San Francisco.† From a religious standpoint a religion that does endorse capital punishment under certain circumstances is Islam. According to the Qu’ran in Al’ Ma’idah 5:33 â€Å"The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make corruption (Fasad) in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be banished from the land; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement† This shows that they believe in the death penalty for those who simply cause corruption or bring disgrace upon Islam, especially if the perpetrator is a former Muslim. The other justification for the death penalty, according to Islam, is murder. If anyone kills a person unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land it would be as if he killed all people. And if anyone saves a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all people (Quran 5:32). This obviously states that murderers should undergo the same penalty as the crime they commited. My personal beliefs about capital punishment are fairly in the middle of the road. On the one hand I do not believe it is sinful for criminals to be put to death, as the Bible clearly endorsed the idea in the Old Testament In Genesis 9:6 it says â€Å" Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.† The New Testament of course contains more of the â€Å"grace† approach and therefore I tend to lean more that way. Although even in the New Testament the Bible states in Romans 13: 4 â€Å" For he ( the police, judges, etc.) is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.† Clearly this endorses capital punishment for evildoers. On the other hand, people in America are judged as guilty by a group of people who do their best but can hardly be 100% sure on their verdict. Human error may cause and no doubt has caused some innocent people to be condemned to death while some of the guilty roam free among us. That makes me uneasy, and is very disturbing. But is that a legitimate reason to do away with the death penalty? That is a hard question to answer, but I believe the answer is no. I believe there are certain cases where capital punishment is absolutely necessary, but I have to say that I would not want to be the one who makes that decision. How do you judge which life is more valuable than another? The other question has to do with whether or not capital punishment is truly a deterrent to others from committing crimes. There are strong arguments on both sides of that question but it is hard to judge when because of the appeals process and other delays and red tape, only a small percentage of those sentenced ever get put to death. I refer back to the fact that only about 1000 people have been executed during the last 30 years when there have been nearly half a million murders in America! So the argument that capital punishment is not a deterrent to crime carries no weight to me. Therefore, it is still my personal belief that capital punishment should be used, with discretion, after a fair trial, and in certain cases, but I also believe that once the decision has been made, it should be executed with much greater speed. Death row shouldn’t be a mile long. I believe that once the judge has given the sentence, there should be a much faster process to the day of execution. I hate the thought of an innocent person being executed, but even worse are the hundreds of thousands of victims who are left without feeling that justice was done for their loved ones and the millions who are at risk because of the leniency of our justice system. My partner and I got along quite well. We had an easy time discussing our material and he was not difficult to deal with. He spent the time given researching, and kept in touch with me to review our presentations. The plot is twisted and complex, taking the viewer into dark, terrorizing, and incomprehensible place. The camera techniques used in the visuals seen in Murder My Sweet instills these feelings, which are common in horror films. Not only are they in contrast with Marlowe, but also with female characters in other films; the soft diffused lighting in melodrama. This is easily noticeable in the opening sequence when Moose Malloy questions the woman in the bar. She is just sitting in direct hard light with no shadow at all. To achieve the desired results of the scene, the bright lighting gives the illusion that she is in some sort of interrogation room. The shadows in the movie suggest mystery and secrecy, so by using high key lighting, all shadows are eliminated. The way she is lit or visually manifested is to set the record straight that she has nothing to hide and does not know anything with regard to the whereabouts of Mooses girlfriend (Mubi Online Cinema, n.d.). Jessie Florian, the second female in the first sequence, carry a little bit more shadow than the girl in the bar, but still much brighter than Marlowe. When Marlowe interrogates her at her apartment, his lighting is still deep in this setting but she is not as lit up as much. In contrast to the woman in the bar, the light shadow gives the impression that Jessie might be a little mysterious or hiding something. Though her face has a light shadow, her face is fully visible, allowing the viewer to see facial expression and think about her motive. A little snippet is when Marlowe peaks through the window after leaving to verify if she was drunk or not; she was not drunk and unsuccessful in deceiving him (Mubi Online Cinema, n.d.). The lighting and shadow differences of male and female characters continue throughout the film. The extremes and exaggerations of light and dark, low key, indicate the level of mystery of the character; in Marlowes case, nightmarish. Murder My Sweet transforms these normal people into twisted people living in a dark world with dark events. Borde and Chaumetom discuss the removal of physiological reference points to take consume the viewer, to take the viewer away from reality. The lighting techniques of the characters are not the only tellers of the story, the physical locations of the events are telling as well. What is so interesting is that the mood s tends to be consistently different in interior and exterior locations. The interiors of My Murder Sweet are not safe, secure, and warm. They are shot in a way that seems chilling, creepy, and ominous; filled with blinding light and deep shadows. The intent is to instill fear into the viewer that something terrible is about to happen (Mubi Online Cinema, n.d.). Even the darkest character, Marlowe, appears scared in his own office. His feelings of unease are amplified by the lighting. While in his office, he is shot or framed close up cutting out much of the office. By cropping out the rest of the office and the ominous setting created by the lighting, there is a feeling that he is not alone and that he is not in control. This chill can be seen when Marlowe sees Malloys reflection while staring out of the window. The sudden surprise along with no noises announcing his arrival scares him (Mubi Online Cinema, n.d.). The exterior scenes provide a much different feeling; it is more subdued with few high contrast areas. This lighting scheme, along with voice over moments, makes Marlowe feel more relaxed. The voice overs are monologues about drawing conclusions on events which have happened thus far or contemplating his next move; giving the impression that he is on top of the situation. Interior shots are consistently of close-ups, the exterior shots are created such that there is much more space. Marlowe is no longer in a boxed in setting, the wide framing allows the viewer to see much more of the scene (Mubi Online Cinema, n.d.). These dynamics of space pertain to all characters, but Marlowes character is the most common. Not only how the characters are represented in both dark films and horror films like Murder My Sweet are very important in setting tone, how the movie is pieced together is crucial as well. How the elements are tied together is a special craft that cannot be overlooked. Film editor Joseph Noriega was truly an artist who made a mark film noir (Mubi Online Cinema, n.d.). The movie follows the classic Hollywood structure with spatial and temporal progressions and flashbacks, but the shot to shot editing is highly irregular, as can be seen in the opening interrogation when the shots of Marlowe blindfolded are pieced together into a circular motion (Murder, My Sweet (1944), n.d.). The purpose of this style of editing is to not allow the viewer to relax. The constant chills and paranoia felt by the viewer can only be achieved through the use visual techniques, settings, and unsettling characters. Murder My Sweet uses a dark and twisted plot to take the viewer to an alternate reality that is very uncomfortable. In his book The Dark Side of the Screen, Forest Hirsch says American films gravitate toward a neutral rendering of a recognizable physical reality rather than toward the delirious inner landscapes, the overwrought transmutations, of full-fledged expressionism. Developing Equality in Education Why we need to even out the school systems The educational gap with students nowadays is only broadening. That is to say that the quality of education among districts in a region varies immensely depending on the district. Wisconsin is a prime example of how more needs to be done, not only to allow for better opportunities for students to attend different, better districts but also to improve the schools in the â€Å"bad† districts. According to data gathered in a study by AOL’s Daily finance 3 of the top 25 worst performing schools in America (including 2 of the top 5) are in Milwaukee (Daily Finance). This is hard to believe considering last The Daily Beast ranks 55 Wisconsin schools among the top 500 in the nation in terms of highest average ACT scores, Average AP/IB/AICE scores and amount of students in these types of courses. This includes the high school I attended, in a suburb of Milwaukee called Brookfield, as the highest ranked school in Wisconsin at 230 (Daily Beast). Questions begin to arise as to wha t can be done to help improve the problem at hand. I propose a solution that will not be simple but perhaps, with time, it can be successful in instituting the change necessary to bring Milwaukee Schools out of the horrid state they’re currently in. By first imposing more programs for students to be able to receive the education they deserve we begin to solve the problem. This would only be a temporary solution as the real answer would be one that addresses improving the Milwaukee school systems. Open enrollment and systems like it allow for students to be able to overcome the hurdles put up for them in the lives they currently live poor Milwaukee neighborhoods. Currently in Milwaukee and other cities in the area there exists programs such as open enrollment policies, voucher programs and magnet schools in an attempt to help improve education in a statewide manner. Open enrollment is the option for parents to enroll their children in schools outside of their district. Voucher programs give low-income families grants for their children to be able to attend private schools. Magnet are those that specialize in certain classes so as to prepare those who attend the school for a certain line of work that they aspire to be in. All these are beneficial to those students who would otherwise not be able to get a good education because of where they live. Under privileged children from these areas could often be stellar students, but due to lack of opportunity, motivation and resources, they succumb to their surroundings. A study conducted by the What Works Clearing house in August of 2012 found that Milwaukee area students who were given vouchers for private schools significantly outperformed their counterparts who never left the public school from where they lived (What Works Clearing House 4). The reading levels on the WKCE of students in grades 7, 8 and 10 showed that the students were far ahead of those students of the same age in the Milwaukee Public school system (What Works Clearing House 1). Another study in Texas showed that grade 9 and 10 students showed better test scores and math as well as higher school attendance than the students of the same age that never left their neighborhoods (Maloney 12). So far (for the most part) only good things have come from program. The problem for these approaches comes in terms of implementation and funding. Funding for transportation is a very large draw back when considering these changes. Since there is no specific law, (state or otherwise) the burden of ferrying this children around falls upon the schools or the parents (Davis 16). A higher cost is a big deterrent for any schools wanting to open enrollment. It is also not helpful for parents because one of the reasons they are not able to send their children to better schools in better neighborhoods is because of monetary constraints they face. Also, although improvements are usually seen when older students switch schools, younger students seem to struggle readjusting to their new surroundings. It is theorized that the higher expectations of these new schools often hinder the children from succeeding when first introduced because of the low standards that they were previously held to (Maloney 12). Open enrollment and systems like it need to be available f or students beginning at a young age with better financial support provided for the families involved. Laws need to be put in place both at a state level and nationally to provide money where it is most needed. Of course just like with many subjects in education open enrollment has its critics. Mainly groups who wish to keep the less privileged out of where they live. For example, a group of Ohio taxpayers has band together to combat open enrollment. The Reynoldsburg Taxpayers Against Open-enrollment is a group of Ohioans trying to cease the backing of these types of programs because they prioritize their wants, needs and desires over those of their less fortunate fellow man. According to their Facebook page, â€Å"[they] believe that open enrollment would be a detriment to [their] schools, [their] community, and [their] home values† (Reynoldsburg Taxpayers Against Open-enrollment). That is to say they do not see the effects of these kids coming in as negative in terms of effecting others education but rather they believe that these outsiders coming into where they live would have undesirable effects on their way of life. Open-enrollment would mean higher taxes for these people to pa y as they are the ones who actually reside in the neighborhoods where these schools are. Their views are something they are completely entitled to although I may not agree with where they are coming from. I personally believe that they fail to see the bigger picture. The education is not for immediate advantage but instead an investment in the future. If more people are educated today it will lead to a better tomorrow. Open-enrollment and such programs are like trying to stop rupturing dam with duct tape. Eventually this dam will rupture and the problems will only get bigger and more overwhelming. The real solution is in trying to improve the schools where the low income students come. If they were able to get the kind of education they need to succeed in life near to their homes, there would be no need to leave. In Milwaukee a great part of the problem is due to the immense amount of segregation there is in such a small area. Milwaukee is only the 30th most populous city in the nation, yet it has the highest segregation around the country. All this segregation leads to a distribution of wealth that highly unequal. The high school I attended was in one of the wealthier cities in Wisconsin. Due to having a good amount of money to spend, the district was able to get better teachers, facilities, and create a better learning environment. All this lead to Brookfield East High School having 65.6% of all their students scoring proficient or advanced in all areas on the Wisconsin Student Assessment System (WISE Dash public portal). Although perhaps not seemingly all that impressive seen alone, when compared to the just 12.6% of Milwaukee Public School System High school students, the numbers seem staggering (WISE dash public portal). Currently Elmbrook School district (Brookfield East’s district) is doing its part to help by having open enrollment (although space is limited) but true solving of the problem won’t happen unless something is done about the troubled schools. As things stand now, not enough is being done to improve education. The laws that are currently in place only perpetuate vicious circle of lack of education in poorer regions. The No Child Left Behind Act for example gives more funding to schools that score better on statewide standardized tests. If a person reads an emotionally charged, hate-filled website and then commits an act of violence, can the creator and owner of the website also be found guilty?    No laws have yet been established to censor material in cyberspace. The Communications Decency Amendment, which sought to ban pornography and other offensive material on the web, was struck down in Congress last year. The Internet has exploded in the past decade. Many people questioned Al Gore’s motives for making the documentary An Inconvenient Truth. They wondered whether he created it because he truly cared about the effects global warming would have on the earth or if he just wanted to make himself seem like a better presidential candidate than his opponents. Throughout the documentary Gore presented many facts and statistics that supported his concern, which created the logos for his argument. He also treated the documentary as more of a lecture or presentation for his audience which gave him the credibility that he needed to create the ethos throughout the film. Finally, he used his own personal experiences to appeal to the audience’s feelings and emotions, creating the pathos. This loan will be paid from the cash flow from the business and will be secured by the assets of the company. 1.0 Introduction Beauty industry in the U.K is booming, there is a lot of money to be made in this industry more than ever, making today a great time to join the industry. Salons and spas have become a cure to the fast-paced lifestyles nowadays. It has been estimated that the average person spends one third of her cosmetic budget on nail care. Because todays fashion regards professional nail care services increasingly important. However, this billion pound industry can be influenced by changing in politics and economic. The report will show how important it is for business to react with the change of environment. This report is not only an environmental analysis that supports the nail salon but also a financial plan to help the prospect of opening Nicer Nail Salon. Product service: 2.1 Target customer: female over 16 year olds. According to the Nail magazine, nail salon patrons begins their habit early. 55% were under 25s when they first starting having their nails done professionally (1). Moreover, result from 2010 Survey of Hours and Earnings show Women salary is highest in the age group within 30-39 (12). On the other hand, nails art parties are on the rise in popularity, particularly for hen nights and teenage parties. Therefore, the need to offer an array of services to attract clienteles of all different age and income groups is necessary. For example, high-end clients are looking to be pampered. Although we cannot ignore the segment of customers, who would still want to have their nails done, dont want to spend out of their comfort areas. Services: Principally, the salon will generate revenues from the direct nail technician services. A nail technician provides painting, nail filing, manicure, pedicure and artificial nails services including acrylics, airbrush nails and nail jewelry. The most popular new foot service which is gel toenails also be provided. To a lesser extent, the salon generates revenue from sale of nail care and hand cream products. Furthermore, a deluxe service involves playing around with colored gels and dabbling in 3-D art will also be offered. Location: the salon will be located on Fife Road, Kingston -upon-Thames, U.K. the location is strategically situated on one of the busiest street in Kingston next to a hairdresser; importantly, there is a big car park nearby the salon. This is a high profile area and easy access from all parts of the town. It is also very convenience for clienteles to locate our salon. Pricing: According to nail magazine survey, 11% of respondents have stopped having their nails done at a salon due to the expense (3). Thus it is important to offer service that available for customers who cant quite afford high-end luxury salons. After sales service: our customers will leave with tips on how to make their nails healthier. To gain the clienteles trust, clean and safe quality products are used. In addition, clients are always welcome to question about our products. We are confident that word-of-mouth about such a salon would be the best advertising for this type of business, it is not only attract local clienteles but also reach customers far outside the boundaries of Kingston. A creative and innovative fashion always applies to generate very high levels of customer satisfaction. Providing customers with the option of booking appointments and consultations online. 3.0 The Business environment (PESTLE analysis): Like any other business, the Nail salon has to act and react to external factors influences it. Therefore, it is essential to know the influence of external factors include political, economical, socio-cultural, technological, legal and ethical environment is (13). The political environment: is one of the most important factors affecting the operation of a business. It is part of the macro-environment which is external to an organisation and completely beyond its control. The effect of political on business in general: Politic affect business in varieties of levels. Business is affected directly by tax policy; high tax rate will attract less investor (chart 8 in appendix1). Policies of government are very important. For example UK is the democratic country, people have full voting authority; they would be able to choose government that would work for the betterment of the country. It helps businesses to thrive because of the good policies of the government. In contrast, if there is no democracy, there is no respect for the chosen government. Instability and uncertainty in the country arise, government comes and goes and so will their respective decisions and policies. Business will suffer in such case as they do not know what will be their future. An example of instability political causes negatively influencing is the effects of anti-government protestors on hotel operators in Thailand in December 2008. Furthermore, a stable political situation will attract more and more investors from other nations. The effect of the political environment on nail salon: Tax policy: as a sole trader Nicer Nail salon owner has responsibility to pay for local business tax, VAT, corporation capital income tax for business and national insurance for employees. Because by doing so the government know the presence of the business. The conservative government recently announced a new austerity plan. It causes higher interest rates, more business failures, lead to shaper rise in unemployment, directly affect the bank and national disposable income. As a result, the salon revenue may reduce significantly. Economical environment : It is believed that the level of demand for nail treatments can change depending on consumers level of disposable income. Businesses are in areas hard-hit economically will suffer because people lost jobs they have to tighten their belts and take control of their spending habits. Since many people are of the opinion that having nails done is not a necessitate thing. As a service industry, many beauty salons are being hit severely. Retail Sale is another example of industry that suffers when the surrounding economy turns down. Chart 11 (appendix 1) shows a lot of retailers report losses and in fact go out of business. Fortunately, the economy in the UK is in fast recovery (Chart 5 appendix 1). Additionally, chart 6 (Appendix 1) show household expenditure and total employment rose (5). Increasing in disposable income means that people can spend on luxuries like nail treatments. Furthermore, The British Lifestyles report by research group Mintel found that in the last decade we have spent 50% more on trips to hairdressing and beauty salons. This proves that the beauty market increases continuously despite the fact that the economic market condition in the UK is still in recession. Regardless of the recession, there are still people who enjoy being pampered. It makes professional nail care is a business with many good advantages. Socio-cultural environment: Every business works in society and consequently is subject to a variety of social influences. These influences include demography, social class and culture (13). For example, result from 2010 Survey of Hours and Earnings (chart 10 appendix 1) show that median earning of female employees grew. Increasing number of career women trends developing a high maintenance notion towards beauty regimes. This is reflected in the increasing amount of nail bars and services available. Nicer Nail Salon is the place where hard working people can come to get away from their daily stresses and be truly spoilt, a place that had the look and feel of a posh city salon. Nail arts can be a fashion statement and express individual for young clienteles who follow the latest trends and styles with a desire to be fashionable. Other services such as ear piercing, facial, and waxing eyelashes treatments are also offered to attract new clients. On the other hand, UK population is ageing (chart 4 Appendix I), ageing population means that the need to provide for a wider age range of clients is essential. Nodaway, Women earn more they will spend more money to look good. Plus the influence of fashion and changes in attitude toward health make professional nail care become booming industry. Technological environment: Advances in technology can have a major impact on business success. For example, one of the easiest and quickest way to let high-end class clienteles know that the salon are dedicated to serving them with luxurious pampering is creating a website that speaks to their needs and wants. Since, today the internet has major influence on the way consumers research and purchase products. By registering the nail salon with online portals the potential customers can easily reach the salon website which provide company name and contact information with online directories. Furthermore, option of consultants online 24/7 shows the salon is dedicated to deliver professional service. Moreover, electric nail file, unlike manual tool, enables a nail technician to filling acrylic nails much easier since the areas that were once hard to reach when filing manually such as cuticle areas and undersides of nails are now easily accessible. The electric nail drill is a time saver; it allows the salon to serve more clients in a day and this should increase profit. In 2010, 19.2 million households had an Internet connection in the U.K. This represented 73 per cent of households and an increase of 0.9 million since 2009 (15) an enormous increase in the number of home computer. The legal environment Health and safety is important when working as a nail technician. Health and safety legislation is part of criminal law. Failure to comply with the law has serious consequence for example if there is a severe risk to health and safety, the salon will be closed down until improvements have been made. The salon has to work within the legal and professional frameworks that set the standards for employment. The law demands that every place of work is a healthy and safe for clients, workers, and other visitors. For example, potentially hazardous substances like glues or acetones should be carefully handle. The salon must follow the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) (10). My salon also looks forward to Legal requirement such as accident insurance and safety disposable products. The salon will keep to the Health and Safety guidance produced by Habia for nail technicians (9). This involves controlling and minimizing skin exposure to nail products, disinfecting equipment for manicuring, cleaning and minimizing inhalation exposure to nail products A nail technician should provide a service with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable space of time and at a reasonable charge (The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982). The nail technician will commit a criminal offence if published misleading advertising that deceives another trader (The Business Protection from Misleading Regulations 2008). Hence, it is crucial to know about the laws. Ethnical environment: Methyl methacrylate (MMA) is a monomer used in nail enhancement application but it should not be used in the salon due to its dangerous effect such as blister and nail loss for natural nails or respiration problem and asthma for some people even though it is still legal to use in the UK. Acrylic contaminated materials should be sealed in a bag before disposal in the bin reducing the amount of chemicals in the air. Gauze pads, cotton wool etc. that have been soaked in chemical should be disposed of in a sealed bag. The intended legal entity for my company: The salon operates as sole trader. I have look and found that being a sole trader is the easiest way to start a small business like a nail spa. Accounting is much easier hence bills for accountants are lower. Plus no complicated paperwork is required. Importantly, decision can be make quickly and close contact can be kept with clients and employees. However, you have to make decisions and provide all finance by yourself. The business income is the owner income therefore it is harder to reduce tax bill. Registration and regulation: Nail technicians are required to register their business and apply for a license to trade. The licence is known as a special treatment licence. The fee to register will depend on each local authority. As a Sole Trader, the salon owner needs to register with Her Majestys Revenue and Custom (HMRC) as self-employed at the moment the business has started otherwise the financial penalty will be charged. Financial plan The startup capital of  £45,000 (appendix II for details) is required to use for the design, leasehold improvement, and equipment of the salon. There are many ways to raise finance for examples borrow from family, get a bank loan or from outside investors. I did research and found that the best way to raise capital for Nicer Nail Salon is borrowing from my parent because they provide with better terms than the bank or private loan guarantees. In order to have successful business with family an agreement letter (Appendix II for details) between me and my parent is necessary in case thing dont go as planned. This also helps to protect everyone from each other and eliminate all conversations that start with you never said that. This note emphasizes that my parent lend me  £45,000 as a debt loan rather than equity. The interest will be paid quarterly to my parent account. Borrowing from parent is better than borrowing from private loan guarantees as the limit time frame stems is much longer. Compare to bank term loans, the interest rate is also much lower. Conclusion: Based on the result from 2010 Survey of Hours and Earnings and British lifestyles I can conclude that Nicer Nail Salon is a necessary service nowadays. Owning a nail salon is promising as little start-up cost is needed and importantly, it is never out of season. , it will be a good start of going somewhere with nail business.
